This bench was completely overhauled. The cast iron ends were sent away to a specialist for sandblasting and powder-coating in Matt Black. The original bench timber was painted pine and was in a very poor state, I decided to use Iroko timber for the slats due to its excellent strength properties and it’s heartwood is reported to be naturally resistant to decay.
The bench was then re-assembled using marine grade stainless nuts and bolts and several coats of oil on the timber to bring out the natural grain and gorgeous honey colouring.
This bench was a labour of love and as such, was branded with my Grandfathers “MACQUISTEN” stamp.
